MAY 13, 2016
Philadelphia rock Charlie Gracie turns 80 on Saturday, and will celebrate with an afternoon birthday tribute show at the Clef Club Theater on South Broad Street.
Gracie's 1956 hit "Fabulous" was an influential early rock and roll building block, particularly in the UK, where it went to #6 on the charts and had a major impact on the four Liverpool lads who would later become The Beatles. Paul McCartney in particular is a big Gracie fan, and this week he sent birthday wishes to his old friend via YouTube. Watch below, and also check out Graham Nash's well wishes here .
Call (215) 893-9912 for details of the Clef Club show. McCartney plays Citizens Bank Park on July 12.
