An original recording of The Beatles performing on their first night at the Astoria Theatre has been listed on eBay for £5,000.

This rare footage, from a tour which began to catapult them into stardom, is priced at £5,000 and filmed in 35mm with sound, lasting 30 seconds.

On 24 December 1963 The Beatles began their 16 night stint at Finsbury Park Astoria Theatre in London, at a venue holding around 3,000 guests.

The shows were part of 'The Beatles 1963 Christmas Shows' which also saw performances in Bradford Odeon and Liverpool Empire .

Taking place between 21 December and 10 January the group typically played two shows a night to keep up with demand, in a set that's believed to have lasted just 25 minutes.

It was their last tour in the UK before they set off for their USA tour and, well, the rest is history.

During the 30 plus shows throughout the two months the group played the following set list, Roll Over Beethoven, All My Loving, This Boy, I Wanna Be Your Man, She Loves You, Till There Was You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Money (That's What I Want) and Twist And Shout.

Meanwhile, in a jam packed evening, the Fab Four were supported by Barron Knights and Duke D'Mond then Tommy Quickly and The Fourmost, Billy J Kramer and The Dakotas, before Rolf Harris and Cilla Black took to the stage.

It is believed that 100,000 tickets were sold in total for the Astoria Theatre shows alone, going on sale on 21 October 1963 and selling out less than a month later on 16 November.
