Rumors are circulating that Paul McCartney has hired Mark Ronson to produce his new album. Adding fuel to the fire, the two were recently spotted at a New York studio working together.

A source told the Sunday Mirror about the studio session, "This week they went to the studio and started knocking about together to see what they can do together. Everybody's really excited about the prospect of Mark working with Paul."

The source also added, "Paul respects Mark's knowledge and is wanting to produce a classic album with a young hip edge. And obviously Mark is over the moon to be working with a Beatle." The new album will reportedly be more contemporary as opposed to McCartney's previous record, "Kisses on the Bottom", which featured jazz covers.

Ronson has previously worked with Adele, Christina Aguilera and Lily Allen among other big names. In 2008, he won a Grammy for Producer of the Year for his work with Amy Winehouse on the album "Back to Black." In more recent events, he is credited for bringing back a more '80s feel to Duran Duran's "All You Need is Now" album.

McCartney performed in London with Bruce Springsteen on Saturday, July 13 but their performance was cut short. Springsteen had already gone past the curfew by half an hour when McCartney popped up onstage to perform "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Twist and Shout", both tracks from The Beatles.

The singer and producer met at McCartney's wedding to Nancy Shevell in 2011 where Ronson was the DJ.
