Beatlemania hits Bogota with 2 new exhibits

MONDAY, 16 JULY 2012
VICTORIA ROSSI
Two Beatles exhibitions will make their way to Bogota next month.
The exhibits, which cost $14 to enter and will run from August 14 to October 16 at Bogota's Seminario Mayor de Usaquén Valmaria, include photos, drawings, murals, interviews and articles about the legendary pop band. Attendees can also hang their own wishes for peace from the branches of the museum's peace tree.
The first exhibit, "The Beatles! Backstage and Behind the Scenes," features 84 black-and-white photos from the time of the band's inaugural visit to the United States to promote their 1963 hit single "I Want To Hold Your Hand."
The next exhibit, "Give Peace a Chance, John Lennon & Yoko Ono's Bed-in for Peace," fully recreates suite 1742 of the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal, where in 1969 newlyweds John and Yoko spent six days in bed peacefully protesting the Vietnam War.
The show's curators have organized a series of Beatles documentary viewings, lectures, and performances by a tribute band to compliment the exhibits. For more information about show times, visit the website: thebeatlesbogota.com
