The McCartney family and more leave touching messages to Cilla Black at her funeral




Joan Collins, Ringo Starr and celebrities from the world of entertainment led the floral tributes to Cilla Black.

In a moving service at St Mary’s Church, complete with tears of sadness and laughter, the star’s close friends, including Sir Cliff Richard, Christopher Biggins and Jimmy Tarbuck, spoke of their love for “Liverpool’s Cinderella."

Joan Collins and Percy Gibson, wrote: "Goodbye dearest Cilla, we will miss you and will cherish our memories of you."

Former Beatle Ringo Starr added: "Cilla, Peace and Love, Ringo and Barbera."

Another tribute said: "All our love to our darlin' Cilla and family, the McCartney family."

A message on flowers from Bruce Forsyth and his wife Wilnelia read: "You irreplaceable you", in a nod to the lyrics of George Gershwin's Embraceable You.

Entertainer Des O'Connor wrote: "Cilla, without your warmth and your smile the world is a sadder place. Thank you for the good times."

A note with flowers sent by Tracy and Charlotte Dawson, the wife and daughter of late comedian Les Dawson, said: "In loving memory of a special lady that will be in our hearts forever ..Cilla you really were, and will always be 'Simply the best'. God bless you lovely lady."

Heartfelt messages were left by Cilla's family, with her sons Robert, Jack and Ben writing: "You will be in our thoughts and our hearts forever."

And her grandchildren said: "Dearest Bubba. We will miss you so much and we will always love you."

Earlier in the service, Sir Cliff Richard spoke of Cilla’s wit, commitment and dedication, before singing ‘Faithful One’ in memory of his close friend.

He said: “It wasn’t just that she was a fabulous pop singer, she took the country by storm.

“I feel really privileged I got to meet her as a friend.”
