RINGO STARR DENIES RIVALRY BETWEEN HIM AND EX-BANDMATE PAUL MCCARTNEY

Ex-Beatles legend Ringo Starr has denied that there is a rivalry between him and ex-bandmate Sir Paul McCartney – despite the pair both releasing new albums within the same week.

Starr’s 16th studio album ‘Ringo 2012’ came out two days ago, with the drummer claiming that he “has no plans to retire” and would ‘play as long as he could hold the sticks’. McCartney’s new record ‘Kisses on the Bottom’ will be out from Monday – exactly a week after Ringo’s hit shelves.

But, in an interview with Spinner, Starr claimed the two were the best of friends – and there was no rivalry.

“In all honesty, we had dinner just after Christmas together and I didn't know he had one coming out,” Starr told the site. “I didn't know that it was going to come out within weeks of each other. No, there's no rivalry. Paul is Paul, Ringo is Ringo and this is what we do.

“We don't phone each other and say, 'You can't you bring your record out because I've got one!'. We live our lives, we make our music and pick a release date. This was the date we picked and that's just how it is.”
