Friends to meet in Los Angeles to wish George happy birthday

This Saturday, George Harrison would have been 69 years old. A few friends, including Beatles news personality Gillian Lomax and myself, Adam Forrest, are going to meet up at "The George Harrison Tree" up at Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon to remember George and wish him "Happy Birthday".

On February 22, 2004, the City of Los Angeles declared it George Harrison day and unveiled this plaque at a ceremony attended by George's friend Jackie Lomax, who played a song he wrote as a tribute to George, "Friend Of Mine."

For those of us in Los Angeles, George's tree is sort of like our Strawberry Fields in New York City where fans meet to remember John. Many fans meet to remember George at his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but George's tree is a quieter place fans can come together and reflect in a natural atmosphere that George would have really liked.

George's tree is at the very tip of the north end of the Griffith Observatory parking lot. Here is a satellite view of the location of George's tree up at Griffith Observatory. Here is a Google Map to the location.

We will meet at George's tree this Saturday, February 25, at 2:00 pm. If you're in the area, I hope we'll see you there.
