There's good news and bad news on the world's music charts for Paul McCartney and his "Kisses on the Bottom" album.
That was especially true in the U.S., where the latest Billboard chart numbers for the week of March 3 were released Thursday.  On the Jazz Albums Chart, where the album, which shot to the top spot on that chart last week in its second week, it remained at #1 this week, its third week on that chart.
McCartney is in distinguished company there. Hot on his album's heels at #2 is Tony Bennett's "Duets II," which is rebounding back up from the #3 position the previous week. And right below Tony Bennett is a Frank Sinatra retrospective, "Sinatra: Best of the Best," which, at #2 last week, is trading places with Bennett this week.
The news isn't as good for McCartney on the Billboard 200, where "Kisses on the Bottom" dropped from #5 to #7 in its second week on that chart. The album also dropped from #5 to #6 on the U.S. music watcher Hits Daily Double chart, #5 to #24 on the Digital Albums Chart and #2 to #3 on the Tastemaker Albums Chart. A label spokesman attributed the  movement to the significant chart gains made by Whitney Houston's albums after her death and the current popularity of Adele.

But there were successes, too, on several European charts. On Australia's ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) chart, it jumped 10 places from #25 to #15. On the Belgian Flanders chart, it jumped from #46 to #8, while on the Belgian Wallonia chart, it jumped from #45 to #6. On the Swedish Sverigetopplistan chart, it jumped to #8 from #29. On Italy's FIMI chart, it debuted at #15

But in the Netherlands, it dropped from #10 to #11 on the Dutch Media Markt album top 40.  It also dropped to #12 on the UK Official Album Chart from #3 in its second week. However, in Canada, it held to its #4 spot.
