Paul McCartney Featured on Bloody Beetroots' 'Out of Sight' – Premiere
ByJAMES SULLIVAN JUNE 10, 2013
As if we needed more proof that Paul McCartney is the most genetically musical human being alive, the 70-year-old former Beatle is diving back into the world of electronic dance music, where he's dabbled on and off in recent years. He's set to appear on a new single from the masked Italian marvel Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo, whose one-man show goes by the name the Bloody Beetroots. In this exclusive clip for "Out of Sight" (check back Friday, or join this Facebook event for the full song, which is due out June 18th), McCartney wails signature-style over a thumping track that also features Youth, the producer (and Killing Joke co-founder) with whom he's made occasional electronic records over the past two decades as the Fireman.
As the Bloody Beetroots, Rifo has carved a niche for himself with his distinctive brand of dance-punk. Closely associated with DJ Steve Aoki, he has remixed artists ranging from Crookers and Rob Zombie to Pink and Britney Spears.
McCartney, meanwhile, has been on a creative roll. In the past year and a half alone, he's released his fifth classical album and his sweety-pie standards collection Kisses on the Bottom, closed the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert and the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in epic fashion and performed and released the apocalyptic "Cut Me Some Slack " with the surviving members of Nirvana. If there is any style of music the melody man can't grasp, it hasn't been invented yet.
