The historic 'Change Begins Within' benefit concert which features Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will finally air on television. It was announced today that the April 2009 concert which took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York will air on New York's THIRTEEN public television station this month.
On April 4, 2009, a long list of musicians including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Donovan, Eddie Vedder, Sheryl Crow and Ben Harper performed at the concert to raise money in support of the David Lynch Foundation which aims to teach 1 million at-risk youth to meditate.
In a rare reunion, McCartney was joined by Starr onstage for three songs including two Beatles classics "With A Little Help From My Friends" and "I Saw Her Standing There." Both McCartney and Starr also performed sets separately of Beatles and solo hits.
At a press conference for the event, Paul McCartney reminisced of the Beatles trip to India back in the 1960s when they were first turned onto transcendental meditation: "It was a great gift the Maharishi gave us. For me, it came at a time when we were looking for something to kind of stabilize us towards the end of the crazy '60s, and it is -- it's a lifelong gift. It's something that you can call on at any time and I think it's a great thing."
'Change Begins Within' featuring Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr will air on Sunday, April 29 at 10:30 pm, with additional airings to follow.
