He was a founding member of the Beatles, a founding member of Wings and he's had a successful solo career for decades, but Sir Paul McCartney isn't satisfied resting on his musical laurels.
At 72, the living legend has decided to try something new, and he has his grandkids to thank for it.
"I got asked to do this music for the new [video] game that the people who made 'Halo' were going to do," McCartney said.
But there was just one problem — the musical superstar didn't know what "Halo" was.
"I asked the kids and they went, 'Wow, that is very cool!" he recalled.
That's all it took. McCartney, already one cool granddad, was now on board with "Hope for the Future," a new song that will pair with the game "Destiny."
But McCartney hasn't turned his back on his musical past, either. He's just come off an eight-leg, 18-month tour filled with career-spanning hits and he's not tired of performing any of them.
That includes "Hey Jude" and "Let It Be," tunes he's played more times than he can count.
"Actually, every time that I do them, the warmth of the audience is so great," he said.
He can see that warmth in the glow shining back at the stage.
"They don't hold up cigarette lighters any more, it's the phones," he explained.
