Paul McCartney's “Kisses on the Bottom” album helped ensure a Beatle would take home at least one Grammy statue at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards, it was announced late Sunday afternoon by the Grammy Awards.
The album took home the Grammy for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. His chances to win looked pretty good considering his competition in the category was two Christmas albums: “Christmas” by Michael Bublé and “A Holiday Carole” by Carole King.
The McCartney Facebook page announced the win: "The GRAMMYs have just tweeted: 'Congratulations to Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album winner "Kisses On The Bottom" @PaulMcCartney #GRAMMYs'."
The win was the only Grammy statue any of the Beatles would bring home this year. The deluxe edition of McCartney's “Ram” reissue was also nominated for two Grammys, but came up empty. The album lost in the Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package to “Woody At 100: The Woody Guthrie Centennial Collection” from Smithsonian Folkways and the Best Historical Album category to the Beach Boys' “The Smile Sessions” box set on Capitol Records.
And earlier, the Beatles had lost in the Best Album Notes category to “Singular Genius: The Complete ABC Singles.”
