Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell wave to fans at Haneda airport in Tokyo on Monday night.

TOKYO
Paul McCartney arrived in Japan on Monday to perform four concerts. The 76-year-old former Beatle arrived aboard a private jet with his wife Nancy Shevell, 58, at 7 p.m. at Tokyo’s Haneda airport for his 7th tour of Japan. About 500 fans were on hand to greet him.

McCartney last performed in Japan 18 months ago. He will play at Tokyo Dome on Oct 31 and Nov 1, Ryogoku Kokugikan on Nov 5 and finally at Nagoya Dome on Nov 8. It will be McCartney’s first time to perform in Nagoya.

The tour is part of McCartney’s “Freshen Up” world tour and to promote his new album "Egypt Station," which was released in September.

McCartney said on his blog after the Japan dates were announced earlier this year: "I love Japan. We’ve always had such a great time there and the audiences are just incredible. We can’t wait to get back! It’s always fun to visit new places too and helps to keep things fresh and exciting. Tokyo and Nagoya we are going to rock out and party with you soon.”

About 135,000 fans are expected to attend the four concerts.
