The legend has hit the road in support of new album 'Egypt Station'
Paul McCartney kicked off his ‘Freshen Up’ tour in Quebec last night (September 17)
The legendary musician has embarked on a short series of dates across Canada in support of his latest album ‘Egypt Station‘. In a four-star review, NME said: “McCartney’s always been about inclusivity and openness, but this latest glimpse into his life feels like a particularly enlightening one.”
Last night’s show at Quebec City’s Centre Vidéotron was the first proper tour date McCartney has played on this record, following a series of secret shows at London’s Abbey Road, Liverpool’s Cavern Club, and New York’s Grand Central Station. During the 39-song setlist, he dug from all corners of his back catalogue, treating fans to cuts from The Beatles, Wings and his own solo career.
During the early stages of the show, he and his band delivered a performance of Wings’ 1976 track, ‘Let ‘Em In’, which McCartney hadn’t performed live since 2012. He also included a version of The Quarrymen song ‘In Spite Of All The Danger’, while ‘Come On To Me’, ‘Fuh You’, and ‘Who Cares’ represented the new record.

His Canadian dates continue later this week (September 20) in Montreal. The ‘Freshen Up’ tour will arrive in the UK in December. Tickets for the three shows sold out in minutes.
Meanwhile, McCartney recently revealed he would never play a Beatles album in full. Speaking to NME for this week’s Big Read, he said he thought the idea would be “too limiting.”
“I think that’s kind of a cool idea but I’m not tempted at all to do that,” he said. “It’d be too limiting. It’s the kind of thing other people do, and I wish them well with it, but to me if I’m doing one album and ‘Hey Jude’ isn’t on it, and I’m in a crowd of 40,000 people, I’m going to want to do ‘Hey Jude’ because it brings people together.”
Elsewhere, he discussed how Charles Manson had put him off of performing ‘Helter Skelter’ and that he still imagines how John Lennon would react to his new music.
