Japan Airlines said it has started offering passengers replicas of the happi jackets worn by the members of The Beatles when they disembarked from a JAL plane on a landmark visit to Japan in 1966.
The replicas commemorate the 50th anniversary of the legendary British rock band’s visit. When the band visited in 1966, many fans were excited when they saw the four members clad in happi and waving after getting off a JAL plane at Haneda Airport.
The new amenity was to be offered to passengers flying with JAL from London to Haneda from Thursday.
The replica happi to be handed out on the plane are for first-class passengers from Thursday until Dec. 31 and will also be offered to business-class passengers on Dec. 24 and 25.
