Paul McCartney spent a post-Christmas holiday aboard Roman Abramovich's luxurious private yacht.

Sir Paul, who received an MBE appointment in 1965 and was knighted in 1997, today joined the billionaire Russian-Israeli businessman - who was reported to have withdrawn his UK visa application in the wake of the Salisbury poisoning earlier this year. 

The 76-year-old Beatles star spent the holiday in Saint Barthélemy along with his wife Nancy Shevell, 59, and daughter Stella, 47.

After withdrawing his application for a UK investor visa following delays, Chelsea FC owner Abramovich applied for Israeli citizenship - which was granted after the mogul proved his Jewish heritage.

The British government launched a crackdown on wealthy investors coming to the country in the wake of the Salisbury poisonings as tensions between the UK and Russia mounted.  

Sir Paul made his way onto the boat to enjoy lunch with the Russian mogul, shielding his face with round-framed sunglasses.

The musician was spotted touching down in St Bart's aboard a private plane on Boxing Day. 

Earlier in the day, Sir Paul drove a rental car around St Bart's wearing a relaxed blue shirt and white shorts while his fashion designer daughter Stella arrived for lunch on Abramovich's yacht wearing a camel jumpsuit.

The Eclipse, which is officially registered in Hamilton, the capital of Bermuda, was delivered to Abramovich in December 2010.

At 533ft vessel is the world's second-largest privately owned motor yacht - the first being the 590ft Azzam owned by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Eclipse features two helipads, 24 guest cabins, two pools, several jacuzzis, an on-board club, a submarine and three fast launch boats to carry passengers ashore in smaller ports.

The vessel reportedly requires 70 staff members to operate it and serve guests. 

Celebrities including Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry are among those who have partied on the boat, which is reputed to cost £50 million each year. 

The vessel was said to cost roughly £300million when it was bought in 2010, but upgrades and maintenance mean the overall cost has soared to well over £1billion, according to The Sun. 

Earlier this year it was reported that Abramovich became an Israeli citizen one month after his visa application was delayed. 

He exercised his right under Israel's Law of Return policy - which states Jews from anywhere in the world can become citizen's of the country.

Israeli citizens are permitted to travel to Britain without a visa and stay as long as six months, whereas Russians are required to apply for a visa from the British Embassy in Moscow.

Paul McCartney has made it a family affair for his post-Christmas holiday to St Barts, after he was seen boarding a private yacht with wife Nancy Shevell and his daughter Stella.

The 76-year-old music legend shielded his face from the sun with a wide-brimmed Panama hat, as he boarded the boat with his 59-year-old spouse.

Stella, 47, donned a daring camel zipped jumpsuit as she was seen alongside her dad and step mum boarding the boat which belongs to Chelsea FC boss and billionaire Roman Abramovich.

Red Rose Speedway “The Double Album”

Earlier this month Paul reissued the 11^thand 12^thtitles in his GRAMMY-winning Archive Collection: Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway. Both feature numerous unreleased items including scrapbooks, the never-before-seen ‘Bruce McMouse’ film and a recreation of the Red Rose Speedway “Double Album”. 

But what was the “Double Album” and what happened to it? To learn more about this title, PaulMcCartney.com is today handing over the reigns to Paul’s MPL office to tell us more about it…

One of our favourite things about working with Paul on his Archive Collections is looking through all the drawers and shelves and down the back of the sofas to see what curiosities we can find. On average, it usually takes us around 18 months to put the packages together, from starting the research to getting them in to your hands. In that time we work closely with Paul, the designers and essay book writer on the story of the release and – let’s be honest here - we get to see some incredible items!

We were always aware that Paul and Wings had considered releasing Red Rose Speedway as a double album from our reading up on everything and anything we can get our hands on (when you have such a rich music history as Paul, you need to do a lot of reading to try and keep up!). So after Paul decided the next two reissues in his Archive Collection, we set ourselves the task of finding out what happened to this double album. 

Looking through the archives (which is actually a pretty comprehensive digital library) we found paperwork alluding to acetates of the double album… but with different track listings! So that started another treasure hunt: what was the correct version?!

Wings - Red Rose Speedway - Recording Sessions Reconstructed (CD, Unofficial Release)

During the research, either the essay writer or MPL aim to speak with as many of the musicians, producers and engineers from the period as we can - we always want the story to be as complete as possible. So we jumped out of our seats when we learned that Denny Seiwell (drummer on Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway) still had three of the four acetates of a version of the touted release. And luckily the tracklisting for the fourth side was also written on there – so we had a physical document from the time! (You can see scans of these acetates in the 128-page essay book included in the Deluxe Edition.) 

Denny’s acetates were dated 13^thDecember 1972. So was this the final version? Our subsequent research suggested not – ‘My Love’ wasn’t recorded until January 1973! But it was a great leap forward. 

Then, as luck would have it, Paul’s archive department found another version of the tracklisting from 30^thJanuary 1973 (these archive folks are the people you REALLY want on your team if you’re ever in a pub quiz about our boss – they know everything, maybe even more than Paul himself!). As Red Rose Speedway was released in May 1973, we felt reassured this version would be pretty final. What’s more, this version also fitted perfectly onto four sides of vinyl. [Techie Note: You can only fit up to 22 minutes comfortably on a side of vinyl.] 

With this new tracklisting in our pockets, we had one more test to run: Paul’s memory! Now, you might think with everything Paul has seen and done, there can only be so much room in one man’s brain and he might not remember every little detail of every release? Not true. We don’t know how he does it, but he never ceases to amaze us with what has filed away in his head! 

So after several months of research, we proudly went to show Paul our homework and to see if it tallied it up with his memories of the time. We sat down with him in his office on a beautiful early spring day, presented what we had and after a few minutes of looking through it we got our answer… yes! 

Paul told us: “You know, this is actually how I recollect that double album. I don’t remember exactly why we changed it. Possibly because of the label? But, to be honest, it’s more likely that I would have just said it’s so much easier to deal with a single album. I mean, this one we’re making at the moment [Egypt Station] – we’ve already said, ‘There’s too many tracks!’ But, ultimately we’ll pick the best and make it a single album. They’re so much easier to deal with! But it’s great the double album will finally get a release!”

Previously on 'You Gave Me The Answer'....

This time last year we asked Paul,

"What would you like to achieve in 2018?”

Paul replied:

“I’ll probably be putting out a new album. So, I’d like that to be something I really love and then hopefully the fans will love it too! We’re putting the finishing touches to it now and at the beginning of next year. So, I would like to achieve making that a really great album. Fingers crossed! That’s not what it’s called, but fingers crossed! [Pauses] It could be… it COULD be the new album title!”

We reminded Paul of his hopes and dreams for 2018 when we sat down with him earlier this month to discuss the incredible year he has had!

"It was amazing what happened. Because at the beginning of every year I always look back on the year before and think,'Wow, I don’t know how we’re going to top that!' I mean, there’s so much great stuff! And then like it’s like a miracle! Something crops up – or we do a little show and I think, ‘Oh, that was good’ and it suddenly ends up we’ve got something like 'Austin City Limits' festival, or a tour of Japan! I’m always amazed at how it kind of works out, so I’m very happy! And it was great year I must say. I'm very much looking forward to next year, where we have more gigs, and more exciting stuff  to come – places we’re gonna play, things we're gonna see... So, that’s going to be nice, I think! Looking forwards, as always!"

LEGENDARY Beatles singer Paul McCartney was apparently “replaced by a body double” after a fatal crash in 1966, according to a long-running conspiracy theory.

But wacky conspiracy theorists maintain the legendary Beatle died in a car crash during the golden age of Beatlemania, only to be replaced by a dead ringer.

And fans now believe they know the true identity of McCartney’s lookalike imposter, 52 years after his supposed death.

According to conspirators, the singer's replacement was a sweet-sounding Louisiana local called Michael Campbell Shears – better known as Billy Shears

The legend goes that in 1965 (one year before McCartney is said to have died) young Shears entered a Beatles lookalike competition organised by the band’s manager Brian Epstein, in the unlikely event one of the legendary quartet died.


Facial differences (mandibular curve, tragus, nasal spine, palate, canines) making it impossible that pre 1966 and post 1966 Paul was the same person

So when news broke of Paul’s supposedly fatal crash, the wacky conspiracy suggests Brian bribed police and journalists to turn a blind eye.

He then introduced Shears to John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison as a replacement for their sharp-witted frontman.

From there, Shears picked up a Scouse accent and assumed the life of one of the biggest rock stars on the planet.

Theorists now believe they have picked up on minute differences between pre-crash Paul (before 1966) and post-crash Paul (Billy, nicknamed “Faul” by theorists) which prove the star has been dead for over half a century.

In a bizarre video, YouTube conspirator MrSandpit123 goes on to point out changes in Paul’s height, posture, facial structure and even the way he holds his famous Hofner bass guitar in an attempt to expose Shears as an imposter.

Speaking of the footage, the theorist concludes: “I have seen enough to fully convince me that Paul was replaced.”

Further, theorists claim the other members of the Beatles left clues regarding their bandmate’s tragic death, including John’s confession “I buried Paul” in their hit song Strawberry Fields Forever.

Unsurprisingly, McCartney has repeatedly quashed the bizarre rumours of his own death.

Speaking to BBC back in 1969, Paul said: “Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

"However, if I was dead, I'm sure I'd be the last to know."

Referencing the theory earlier this year during Carpool Karaoke with James Corden, 76-year-old Sir Paul admitted: “We just kind of let it go.”
