On April 17th of 1998, Paul McCartney‘s first wife, Linda McCartney, lost her battle with breast cancer at the young age of 56.
Luckily, Paul and Linda’s love for each other will permanently be on display through photographs taken of the two together over the years.

Their love will also live on in immortality through Paul’s music. While the former Beatle was naturally inspired by Linda while writing music in general, there are a few standout love songs that he specifically wrote about her.
Luckily, our resident Beatles expert and host of WZLX’s Breakfast With The Beatles, Cha-Chi Loprete, knows a thing or two (hundred) about Paul, including exactly which love songs he wrote about Linda.
Relive Paul and Linda’s love story with the songs below:
“Two Of Us” by The Beatles
While this 1970 Let It Be album track was credited as having been written by both John Lennon and Paul McCartney, McCartney was solely responsible for the lyrics.
You may have thought that this song was actually about the songwriting duo. According to Cha-Chi, Lennon thought it was too! But in reality, the song was about Paul’s future wife, Linda Eastman.
“The Lovely Linda” by Paul McCartney
This song, or as Paul calls it, “a trailer to the full song, which will be recorded in the future”, served as the opening track off of Paul McCartney’s first solo album, McCartney, in 1970.
In case you’re wondering, that “full song” was never recorded.
“Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney
This song also came off of McCartney’s debut solo record, and although the timing of the record led people to assume that the lyrics were about Linda helping Paul get through The Beatles breakup, Paul has been quoted as saying “I know what it was about in my own mind. It was about just getting married, I suppose, and just sort of saying, you know…the sort of doubt kind of thing of it all is what, I suppose, I was trying to sum up.”
“Long-Haired Lady” by Paul and Linda McCartney
This song is from Paul and Linda McCartney’s 1970 album, Ram, and it was written as a tribute to Linda.
“My Love” by Paul McCartney and Wings
This song came off of Paul McCartney and Wings’ second album, Red Rose Speedway, in 1973. While the song was written by both Paul and Linda, it’s about Paul’s feelings for Linda.
Other honorable mentions inspired by Linda include “Every Night”, “Man We Was Lonely”, “The Back Seat of My Car”, “Dear Boy’ and “Flowers In The Dirt”.
