Setlist Got Back Tour: ¿qué temas tocará Paul McCartney en Montevideo?

En esta gira, que inició en 2022, suele hacer un repertorio de casi tres horas que ha incluido temas como “Can’t Buy Me Love”, “Love Me Do”, “Blackbird”, “Lady Madonna”, “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”, “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window”, “Get Back”, “Band on the Run”, “Let It Be”, “Live and Let Die”, “Hey Jude”, “I’ve Got a Feeling”, “Helter Skelter” y “Carry That Weight”.

Esposa, comida vegetariana, piano y bicicleta

The news about the historic concert at the Centenario Stadium: tickets, schedules and latest news.

Paul McCartney, the British legend, former member of The Beatles, will perform at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo this Tuesday, October 1, 2024. This recital, within the framework of his Got Back tour, will be his third visit to Uruguay, after having played here in 2012 and also in 2014. The musician arrived in the city this Sunday.

Below is a guide with everything you need to know about this long-awaited concert.

Setlist Got Back Tour: what songs will Paul McCartney play in Montevideo?
Although the specific repertoire that McCartney will perform at this concert has not been officially confirmed, the Got Back Tour set list will include classics from The Beatles, some gems from Wings and hits from his long solo career.

On this tour, which began in 2022, he usually does a repertoire of almost three hours that has included songs such as “Can't Buy Me Love”, “Love Me Do”, “Blackbird”, “Lady Madonna”, “Ob-La -Say, Ob-La-Da”, “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window”, “Get Back”, “Band on the Run”, “Let It Be”, “Live and Let Die”, “Hey Jude”, “I've Got a Feeling”, “Helter Skelter” and “Carry That Weight”.

Paul McCartney at the Centenario Stadium: all the preparations for the show
On Wednesday, September 18, preparations for this concert began. 15 trucks brought sound and lighting equipment to the Centenario Stadium, mostly from Argentina. Around 120 technicians are working on setting up the stage, which was completed on Saturday.

This stage will be one of the largest ever set up in Montevideo, as it has even required renovations to Gate 5 of the Centenario Stadium to be able to enter and accommodate the equipment.

One day before the concert, on Monday, September 30, Sir Paul is scheduled to join the rehearsals and sound check, which his band has been doing since Saturday.

Who are the musicians that accompany Paul?
Since the beginning of the century, McCartney has toured with a stable band. Wix Wickens mostly handles the keyboards, although he can take on the guitar. Charismatic drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. is on drums and percussion. Rusty Anderson takes over on lead guitar. The blonde Brian Ray oscillates between rhythm guitar and bass, depending on which instrument McCartney plays on each song.

Paul, as is known, in addition to bass, plays guitar, piano, ukulele and mandolin. All the musicians also accompany him in choirs.

Wife, vegetarian food, piano and bicycle
On this tour, McCartney travels with his wife Nancy Shevell and his personal chef also comes. It is known that the musician has been a vegetarian for several decades and one of his requests throughout the Got Back Tour is that vegetarian options, in addition to other local dishes, be included in the food stalls at his concerts.

Among other special requests is the classic piano in the room where you stay. He also asked, as usual, for a bike trailer. Apparently Paul likes to pedal through the cities he visits and it is rumored that he could travel to Punta del Este to ride his bike. In 2012 he was seen walking along the Carrasco boulevard.

Who will be the opening act?
So far there is no official confirmation as to which artist will break the ice. Paul McCartney often invites local or emerging artists to open his concerts. so we hope to update this article as soon as we have this news confirmed closer to the date of the recital.

Paul McCartney 2024 in Uruguay: day, time and place of the recital

After a technical stop in Iquique, Paul McCartney is now in Uruguay

Paul McCartney is already in Uruguay: what he wants to have in his hotel room every day before 8 AM

After a technical stop in Iquique, Paul McCartney landed in Montevideo on Saturday night, and greeted from the car the fans who came to wait for him at the airport. On Tuesday he will perform at the Stadium and before that he made a special request.

Paul McCartney has already arrived in Uruguay. This Saturday night, the private flight that brought him from Los Angeles directly to Montevideo, and that had to make a technical stop in Iquique, Chile, landed at Carrasco Airport, to begin a new stay of the Beatle in the city.

This Tuesday, McCartney will perform for the third time at the Centenario Stadium, now as part of his Got Back Tour and with a mix of songs from the Beatles, the Wings and his solo repertoire. The last tickets are on sale at Acceso Ya.

From the window of the van that took him to the hotel where he will stay, the Briton greeted a handful of fans who came to wait for him at the old airport.

He is expected to rehearse at the Centenario Stadium with his entire band on Monday. For this occasion, he requested a van with a bicycle trailer, so it is not ruled out that, as he did on previous occasions, he will go for a ride around the city. A bit of fresh air is always good, he told El País last week in an exclusive interview.

In addition, the possibility of a getaway to Punta del Este was being considered.

And although the artist's demands for this visit have been quite simple —in addition to what is associated with the bicycle, it is known that there will be a piano in his hotel room, something that is customary in every place he goes—, a new piece of information about his requests caught the attention.

According to El País, for the entire duration of his stay in Uruguay, McCartney wants to receive a printed copy of the newspaper in his room, before 8 in the morning. Specifically, he requested that the press be sent from the 28th to the 2nd.

In Montevideo, McCartney will inaugurate the Latin American tour that will then continue through Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Sao Paulo, Florianopolis, Cordoba, Lima, Bogota, San Jose de Costa Rica, Monterrey and Mexico City.

Ringo Starr’s Biggest Beatles Song Is a Rip-Off

The Beatles' Ringo Starr penned very few of the Fab Four's songs. He was the mind behind a beloved track from 'Abbey Road'.

The Beatles‘ Ringo Starr is one of the most famous drummers who ever lived but he penned very few of the Fab Four’s songs. He was the mind behind a beloved track from Abbey Road. Notably, that tune was a rip-off of another hit song from the 1960s.

Ringo Starr wrote only 2 Beatles songs by himself

Starr wrote two Beatles songs on his own: “Don’t Pass Me By” from The White Album and “Octopus’s Garden” from Abbey Road. Nobody remembers “Don’t Pass Me By.” It’s hard for the simple rock tune to stand out on the same record that gave us instantly memorable tracks like “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “Revolution 9.”

Meanwhile, Starr also wrote “Octopus’s Garden” from Abbey Road. “Octopus’s Garden” is far more indelible than “Don’t Pass Me By.” The former is a fascinating combination of children’s music, undersea shenanigans, Ringo’s distinct vocals, and old-fashioned instrumentation. The Beatles had also fused all of those elements in one of their previous hits: “Yellow Submarine.”

Which of The Beatles’ nautical songs is the best?

It’s fair to call “Octopus’s Garden” a rehash or rip-off of “Yellow Submarine.” Of course, I doubt Paul McCartney cared that much that Ringo rewrote one of his songs. Of the two songs, “Yellow Submarine” is more famous. According to The Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits, “Yellow Submarine” charted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 behind The Supremes’ “You Can’t Hurry Love.” Meanwhile, “Octopus’s Garden” did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100 at all.

On the other hand, it’s easy to argue that “Octopus’s Garden” is the better song. It has heavenly backing vocals, cute bubble sound effects, and some catchy country riffs. It’s amusing for adults, while “Yellow Submarine” doesn’t have anything to offer anyone over the age of four years old. In addition, octopuses are cool and “Octopus’s Garden” gets brownie points for being one of the only works of popular media that celebrates them.

Ringo Starr explained why he wrote about an octopus

During a 2023 interview with Vulture, Starr discussed how “Octopus’s Garden” came together. “I’d actually left the band and gone to Sardinia for a holiday in 1968, and Peter Sellers’s boat just happened to be there,” he said. “[Ringo’s wife] Maureen [Starkey] and I and the kids went on his boat, and the captain was talking to me. I’m afraid we were smoking a bit of dope in those days — a bit of grass.

“So it was all so nice and beautiful, and he told me the story about how octopuses have their own special gardens under the sea,” the “Photograph” singer added. “When you’re stoned, how do you react? ‘Wow! Wow!’ On the boat I had a guitar, and I could play anything you’d like in that as long as it was in E. It was the only chord change I knew. ‘I’d like to be under the sea in an octopus’s garden in the shade’ just came to me. It was just one of those magic moments. I mean, what if the captain said, ‘Sharks like live dogs for dinner?’ Happy-go-lucky sharks.”

After the success of “Yellow Submarine,” it appears the Starr wanted to be under the sea once more.

Paul McCartney Revealed a Habit of John Lennon’s That He ‘Really Didn’t Like’
Paul McCartney and John Lennon weren't on good terms when The Beatles broke up. McCartney was on the receiving end of a trait of Lennon's he disliked.

Paul McCartney and John Lennon’s relationship virtually collapsed when The Beatles broke up. While they got on better terms before Lennon’s death, their friendship never reached the place where it had been in the early 1960s. McCartney shared a trait of Lennon’s that he did not like.

Paul McCartney didn’t like that John Lennon spoke so aggressively
While in The Beatles, McCartney said he was more polite and accommodating than his bandmates. He admitted he sometimes wondered why he didn’t put forward a tougher image, but he didn’t think it was bad that he tried to get along with everyone.

“OK, in the normal day-to-day life a lot of polished talk goes on … you don’t love everyone you meet, but you try and get on with people, you know, you don’t try and put ’em up-tight; most people don’t anyway,” he told Rolling Stone in 1974. “So to me that’s always been the way.”

He thought it was better to be tactful than to bludgeon with words, like John Lennon did.

“I mean, there’s nothin’ wrong with that; why should I go around slugging people?” he asked. “I really didn’t like all that John did. But I’m sure that he doesn’t now.”

Paul McCartney thought John Lennon said things he didn’t mean
While McCartney said he hadn’t spoken to Lennon about some of the disparaging remarks he made about him in the media, he felt confident that Lennon hadn’t meant all of it.

“I know John and I know that most of it was just something to tell the newspapers,” McCartney said. “He was in that mood then and he wanted all that to be said. I think, now, whilst he probably doesn’t regret it, he didn’t mean every single syllable of it. I mean, he came out with all stuff like I’m like Engelbert Humperdinck. I know he doesn’t really think that.”

McCartney said he resisted hitting back at Lennon.

“In the press, they really wanted me to come out and slam John back and I used to get pissed at the guys coming up to me and saying, ‘This is the latest thing John said and what’s your answer.’ And I’d say, ‘Well, don’t really have much of an answer. He’s got a right to say …’ – you know, really limp things, I’d answer,” he said. “But I believe keep cool and that sort of thing and it passes over. I don’t believe if someone kind of punches you over you have to go kind of thumping him back to prove you’re a man and that kind of thing. I think, actually, you do win that way in the end, you know.”

He admitted his former bandmate’s words stung
While McCartney said he didn’t think Lennon meant all he said, his words still stung.

Paul McCartney and John Lennon | CBS Photo Archive/Getty Images

“I hated it. You can imagine, I sat down and pored over every little paragraph, every little sentence,” McCartney said. “‘Does he really think that of me?’ I thought. And at the time, I thought, ‘It’s me. I am. That’s just what I’m like. He’s captured me so well; I’m a turd, you know.’ I sat down and really thought, I’m just nothin’.”

He said he needed reassurance from his friends and family to remind himself that he wasn’t as Lennon painted him in the press.

Paul McCartney's Travel Routines Are The Complete Opposite Of What Fans Expected

By Alessandro Passalalpi

The Travel

Published 3 days ago

Let's be real here, Liverpool is more than just football and The Beatles. Liverpool tends to be underappreciated. Nonetheless, Paul McCartney is a big reason for its fame. Still to this very day, tourists continue to flock towards Paul's childhood home out in Forthlin Road.

These days, McCartney is still keeping busy while touring the world. He'll be back on the road as of October, going on yet another massive tour which starts in Montevideo, Uruguay. The legend still isn't slowing down, and his tour schedule remains just as busy all these years later.

This triggers the question, how does the legend keep himself entertained during flights on his private plane? Is he working? Coming up with new music? Writing? Reading? None of the above, and the answer might surprise most fans given how basic The Beatles legend really is behind closed doors.

Paul McCartney Isn't Working During Flights, Instead He's Keeping Things Simple And Watching Movies

The Beatles Legend Scroll For Newly Released Movies During Long Flights.

Back in the summer of 2023, Paul McCartney sat down alongside his own website, PaulMcCartney.com, and answered questions related to his traveling experiences. The biggest question asked and one fans are curious about is how the icon keeps himself entertained when traveling? Fans might assume he's coming up with material, or tackling some of his other work during that time period. However, McCartney revealed it is very much the opposite. He instead opts to chill out and enjoy the simple things life has to offer, like watching a movie.

"I don’t knit, I imagine that would be quite cool, actually. Tom Daley knits and so does Michelle Obama, and I get why they do it; it must be a great release of tension. But I watch movies. So when I travel from London to New York, its normally a seven-hour journey so I end up watching about three movies, and in the middle of it all I try and have a meal," he tells the website.

"I just go to ‘New Releases’ and unfortunately they’re not new – I’ve seen most of them!"

"On car journeys, I watch stuff on my iPad which can be films or series. I’m currently on Better Call Saul and it’s a good one."

He continued, "I don’t read on journeys so much, I read at home instead before going to bed. I get ready for bed and the last thing I do is read."

Paul McCartney's Upcoming Tour Destinations

Oct 1: Montevideo, Uruguay

Oct 11: Macul, Chile

Oct 15: São Paulo, Brazil

Oct 19: Florianópolis, Brazil

Oct 27: Lima, Peru

Nov 1: Bogotá, Colombia

Nov 5: San José, Costa Rica

Nov 8: Guadalupe, Mexico

McCartney added that he avoids watching movies or TV before bed, wanting to keep things as light as possible before going to sleep and getting proper rest.

There you have it, McCartney has normal habits on flights and road trips like the rest of us.

Paul McCartney Has Stunning Homes Around The World

Paul McCartney Had A Stunning Tucson, Arizona ranch.

Paul McCartney's real estate portfolio has certainly evolved over the years. One of his biggest purchases came alongside his late wife Linda.

° The couple purchased a massive 151-acre ranch out in Tucson, Arizona.

° McCartney bought the property in 1979, and it turned out to be the perfect escape during his booming fame worldwide, especially in the US.

° He also dished $4 million for a Beverly Hills home back in 2001. The home belonged to Courtney Love and Ellen DeGeneres.

His impressive portfolio includes a penthouse in Upper East Side Manhattan. This property didn't come cheap either. Purchased in 2015, the penthouse cost The Beatles legend $15.5 million. It includes ten rooms on two floors.

Note

Paul McCartney took a loss on the Manhattan property, selling it for $8.5 million, according to Hello Magazine .

McCartney's main base remains in St John's Wood, London. He purchased the house way back in 1965, and still calls it home today. Paul picked up the home at £40,000. Oh, how times have changed. The property now has a staggering worth of £16.5 million, and that's on the lower end with its value constantly rising.

Paul McCartney's Original Home In Liverpool Is A Tourist Attraction Spot For Fans

The Location Is Known As The Birthplace of The Beatles.

A photo of a Beatles statue in Liverpool.

This spot is iconic for fans of The Beatles. 20 Forthlin Road out in Liverpool is the home Paul McCarntey grew up in. The home is currently owned by National Trust. The governing body does provide tours, and it remains a hot spot for admirers of McCartney and the iconic group. Over on Trip Advisor, tourists are still raving over their experience at Forthlin Road.

"This was an outstanding tour experience! It was a small group and the tour guides clearly love their subject matter. Fans just like us! The properties have been cared for and preserved with such attention to detail and with tremendous respect for the families. I pre purchased some guide books and they are wonderful! I highly recommend because you can’t take pictures inside. The guides are extremely well informed and they are extremely friendly and helpful. This tour is well worth the money. Don’t miss it," a Trip Advisor user wrote in September of 2024.

"I really enjoyed looking around John and Paul's houses, and felt pretty honored to be there," another user added.

All reviews for the recent months are at least over four-stars. Tourists appreciate the experience in McCartney's small town.
