Paul McCartney in S. Korea for world tour

SEOUL, May 1 (Yonhap) -- Paul McCartney, a former member of the Beatles, arrived in South Korea Friday to hundreds of fans eager to see the rock 'n' roll icon.
The 72-year-old is here for "Out There," a world tour that kicked off in 2013.
Clad in a blue shirt and black blazer, the Hey Jude singer waved to delirious fans at the gate. His flight was delayed by an hour much to the anxiety of his fans who had been waiting hours beforehand.

Without saying much, however, the musician was whisked away by guards immediately to a car waiting outside.
Interestingly, the crowd at Gimpo International Airport was mostly Japanese.
Hioki Yuya, a Japanese tourist, said he had come to South Korea just to watch McCartney's concert.
The 35-year-old had been waiting for the musician since arriving at the same airport this morning.
"I wasn't able to watch his concert in Japan due to work," he said, still carrying his luggage. "I saw him two years ago, but I came to South Korea to see him again."
McCartney is reportedly staying at a hotel in the posh Gangnam district in southern Seoul.
His concert will take place at nearby Jamsil Stadium starting at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Paul McCartney concert delights fans in Seoul

SEOUL, May 3 (Yonhap) -- Paul McCartney delighted his South Korean fans Saturday with a much-anticipated concert packed with his best-known songs.
The concert, the former Beatles member's first-ever in South Korea, took place at Seoul's Jamsil Stadium, where 45,000 fans moved to his music in the rain.
The highlight came about two hours into the concert when the 72-year-old singer played the first chords of "Let It Be," causing the entire audience to stand up from their seats.
The singer, apparently moved by the enthusiasm of his South Korean fans, shouted out, "Korea, you are cool!"
During the concert, McCartney sang both Beatles hits and his own, including "Eight Days A Week," "Save Us," "Paperback Writer" and "The Long and Winding Road."
Fans held up signs and mobile phones to light up the stadium as McCartney expressed his thanks by stretching out his arms to the sides, then putting his hand on his chest and finally holding his head in his hands.
He also blew kisses to the audience as they sang along to his performance of "Hey Jude."
McCartney wrapped up his Asia tour in Seoul after completing a weeklong tour of Japan. His "Out There" world tour began in Brazil in 2013.

Paul McCartney expands, changes set list for South Korea show

After playing a shorter show at the Tokyo Budokan earlier in the week, Paul McCartney got his set list back to where it once belonged May 2 at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul, South Korea, by restoring a number of songs, both Beatles and McCartney solo favorites that had been deleted for the earlier show. The changes started with the song that opened it, “Eight Days a Week,” which had been “Can't Buy Me Love” at the Budokan. That was dropped to third in the set.
Other songs that were returned to the set were “Jet,” which was added in at the expense of “One After 909,” “The Long and Winding Road,” “Hope for the Future,” the song for the “Destiny” video game which was recently added to the set list but had been dropped for the previous show, “Queenie Eye” from his most recent album “NEW,” Beatles classics “All Together Now,” “Eleanor Rigby” and “Lovely Rita,” and “Something” and “Here Today,” his tributes to fellow Beatles George Harrison and John Lennon respectively.

McCartney said before the show he was very much looking forward to it. “I’m really excited that we are going to South Korea to play our show,” McCartney said in a statement. “I was really looking forward to visiting last year and really touched by all the messages I received from my fans after we were forced to move the show.”

Jash of Jash's Paul McCartney News in Japan says that before starting the first encore, Paul did something different. audiences were singing the "Hey Jude" refrain and wouldn't stop, so Paul McCartney played "Hey Jude" with his Hofner bass.
