Beatle already looking ahead to new rock album

Paul McCartney's album of standards, "Kisses on the Bottom,"hits stores Tuesday, but he's already working on his next release.

The former Beatle spent the last weekend of January in London's A.I.R. Studios on Saturday and at Abbey Road studios on Sunday.

 

"I've written a lot of songs over the last couple of years, and you get to a point where you've just got too many to leave. You got to record them in order to be able to even write some more," McCartney told Sal Cirrincione of Premiere Radio Networks.

 

Though McCartney hopes to have the album out by the end of the year, it also might not happen until 2013. McCartney's last rock album was 2007's "Memory Almost Full."

 

McCartney is in Los Angeles this week to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, to be honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year on Friday and to perform on the Grammy Awards on Sunday.
