Ringo Starr is one of the most famous drummers in music history.

His role in shaping the sound of The Beatles is undeniable, and it yielded a 50-plus year career that continues to this day. The Vancouver Sun’s Francois Marchand recently had a very special opportunity to talk with Starr ahead of a performance with his All-Starr Band at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver.

In this rapid-fire interview, presented here unedited, Starr discussed performing in Vancouver on the night of John Lennon’s birthday, his relationship with the West Coast, his new book Photograph and new album Postcards From Paradise, and his shoes.
