It seems like just yesterday that Sir Paul McCartney was just a young, mop-headed hearththrob making great music the girls swoon. But today marks the singer’s 75th birthday, and his family took to Instagram to send him well wishes.
The Beatles legend’s birthday fell on the same day as Father’s Day this year, and his daughters were sure to give him a shout out on both fronts.
Designer daughter Stella McCartney, 45, posted a photo of her and her dad cuddled up to her Instagram account with the caption: ‘Happy birthday and happy Father’s Day dad…. I am so blessed to have you in my heart and soul, you inspire every day. I love you x Stella’.
Photographer Mary McCartney also took to social media to mark the occasion, but instead opted for an action shot of her pops, riding a horse through a lush, green field.
Referring to her dad as ‘daddy cool’, she wished him a happy birthday ‘plus Happy Father’s Day too! X’
As well as plenty of fans flooding to social media to pay their respects to the artist, there were some familiar faces, too.
Yoko Ono, wife of McCartney’s late Beatles bandmate John Lennon, also dedicated a tweet to the star along with a picture of the two of them together: ‘Happy Birthday @PaulMcCartney and congratulations! Lots of love, yoko.’

Olivia, the wife of George Harrison, along with his son Dhani also joined in on the photo sharing with a major throwback snap of George feeding Paul some ice cream.
The caption read: ‘#HappyBirthday to @PaulMcCartney from Olivia & Dhani.’

Arguably one of the most famous people on the planet with a career that has spanned over 55 years – with no signs of slowing down, if that 2015 Rihanna and Kanye collab was anything to go by – Sir Paul has just been made Companion of Honour in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for his services to music, twenty years after being knighted.
JK Rowling, Ed Sheeran and Julie Walters join him on the list.
No Card from Ringo?
