The authors of “a is for Apple,” the series of books meticulously documenting the work of the Beatles' legendary Apple Record label, announced Sept. 7 they are involved with two brand new projects on the deep history of the Fab Four. One will be an updated version of a book by another member of the Beatles “inner circle,” and the other will focus on both Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe.
The first book, “Who's the Redhead on the Roof?: My Life with the Beatles” by Kevin Harrington, has been available as an ebook in the U.S. and also in the UK, but the new version will be expanded with an additional extra chapter not found in the original version. This special new limited edition hardcover edition will also be signed by the author. Harrington began his career with the Beatles as an office boy at Brian Epstein's NEMS Enterprises in 1966. He also worked as a stagehand at Brian Epstein's Saville Theatre and was put in charge of the Beatles' equipment starting in 1968.
His book also includes witnessing the tumultuous “Get Back” sessions and the Apple rooftop concert and being at George Harrison's Friar Park home. This deluxe edition will include an extra chapter about his experiences during the Concert For Bangla Desh. The book will also be illustrated with photos of Harrington both with and without the Beatles and include pictures of rare documents and other memorabilia.
"In 1968 I was invited to be in a unique and privileged position in the world of popular music. I was to look after the equipment of the biggest band in the world, The Beatles," Harrington says in the book. "I know it was unique and a privilege because only one other person had done the job before me, his name was Mal Evans and he was the Beatles’ Roadie. Over the past 40 odd years since the Beatles split up there have been countless books published on the band. I can’t add anything new to their story, I can only tell mine." Details for ordering the book were not announced.
The authors have also asked for the public's help regarding another planned book on the Beatles by authors Thorsten Knublauch and Axe1 Korinth about the Beatles careers of both Stu Sutcliffe and Pete Best. The authors asked anyone who has news clippings, pictures and any memorabilia about them dating from 1963 to 1966 to contact the authors.

In 1968 I was invited to be in a unique and privileged position in the world of popular music. I was to look after the equipment of the biggest band in the world, The Beatles.
I know it was unique and a privilege because only one other person had done the job before me, his name was Mal Evans and he was the Beatles’ Roadie.
Over the past 40 odd years since the Beatles split up there have been countless books published on the band. I can’t add anything new to their story, I can only tell mine. My job with the Beatles has been described as various different things in books and on the internet, some right, some wrong. I am writing this book to clarify my role working with the boys. How you view me after you have read my account I leave to you.
