Sir Paul McCartney impacts the Hot Tours list dated April 6, 2019 with $17.8 million from four South American shows, according to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore. He returned to Buenos Aires at Campo Argentino de Polo on March 23 ($5.4 million), before heading to Sao Paolo’s Allianz Parque on March 26-27 ($8.7 million) and Estadio Major Antonio Couto Pererira in Curitiba, Brazil on March 30 ($3.7 million).
With these recent grosses, McCartney’s solo career touring total in Latin America — as reported to Billboard Boxscore — grows to $101 million. Of that total, he has earned $21.5 million in Argentina (four shows) and $47.8 million in Brazil (10 shows). His recent shows at Allianz Parque are his first double-header in Brazil and as such, become his highest-grossing engagement in the country. These dates top this week’s Boxscore chart, only the second time he has done so in LatAm, following two shows at Mexico City’s Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Nov. 25 and 27, 1993 ($6.5 million).
On a global scale, the Sao Paolo dates are McCartney’s 35th visit to the top of the Boxscore chart and his ninth highest grossing show in total. Below are the ten top grossing shows of his career (his first reported shows to Billboard Boxscore were in late 1989, shortly after his first solo tour began earlier that year), topped by three engagements in Japan.

Sir Paul McCartney has reported a good chunk of his latest world tour, and the business on the trek has been outstanding.

Over the 10 market appearances included on the Global Concert Pulse chart, McCartney is averaging a gross of $3.6 million and an average ticket count of 31,979, good enough to get him to No. 1 on the chart.

Macca just wrapped his run through South America, a highlight of which was an eye-popping gross of more than $9 million over two nights in Sao Paulo’s Allianz Parque. More than 90,000 people showed up to see the legendary musician perform, paying between $200 and $890 per ticket.

The former Beatle has a full run of U.S. arenas and stadiums lined up for later in the year.

Sebastian Maniscalco also entered the chart above the $1 million average gross marker, coming on at the No. 12 position. The comedian is averaging $1.2 million per market appearance and 11,792 tickets reported.

Maniscalco sold out Madison Square Garden in New York four times in January, grossing nearly $8.3 million over two nights. The funnyman was also the subject of a Pollstar cover feature after that impressive run of shows.

Maniscalco reported multiple shows at Theater At MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md., Feb 8-9; Moore Theatre in Seattle Jan. 12; and Carol Morsani Hall in Tampa, Fla., Dec. 28. He also reported single shows in South Bend, Ind., and Richmond, Va.

The comedian still has theater dates booked for several months, the next of which is at Fox Theatre in Detroit April 5.

Chayanne is the next-highest charting new entry, with an average gross of $720,953, good enough to get the Puerto Rican star to No. 22.

He ran through Mexico in March, reporting stops in Oaxaca, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Villahermosa, Merida, Veracruz, Mexico City, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi, Leon and Culiacan.

The tour was promoted by OCESA / CIE, which was No. 4 on Pollstar’s Q1 Top 50 Promoters chart.

Tears For Fears also came on at No. 32, with an average gross of $487,346 and an average ticket count of 7,049.

Coming in on the second half of the chart are MercyMe (No. 54); Cody Jinks (No. 83); America (No. 93); “Unshamed Forever Tour”/Lacrae (No. 98); Elevation Worship (No. 99); and Dark Star Orchestra (No. 100).
