PAUL'S NEW EGYPT STATION HITS #1
ON BILLBOARD'S TOP 200
It all started last Friday, Sept 7th (by coincidence, the exact 44th Anniversary of the very first day of the first Beatlefest.). Michelle and I (Mark) attended the John Lennon Stamp Ceremony at the Central Park Naumburg Band Shell. It was hosted beautifully by Dennis Elsas (The Beatles Channel's Fab Fourum Show). Yoko, Sean, Bob Gruen and the Postmaster General all spoke. Sean said his dad would have been really thrilled to be accepted this way, and so was he. Yoko was surprised at the size of the crowd. She thought there would be a few people, but 1,000 people showed up! From being on the President's list to be deported in the early 1970s to being honored with an official Forever Stamp in 2018. Absolutely historic.
Later that evening, just 30 blocks further downtown, Paul and his band did their 'secret gig'. Of course, Paul let the cat out of the bag the previous evening on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon! In attendance was Fallon, Sean, Meryl Streep, Paul's wife Nancy, Bill Flanagan (also of The Fab Fourum Show) plus a few hundred very lucky fans. Jessica took this photo as Paul was arriving, Michelle, Jessica and hundreds of other fans who did not get in could hear was was going on but that proved to be very difficult because of the acoustics. The show was live streamed and most of the set consisted of rockers.
Thursday at 11AM outside City Hall in lower Manhattan, the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus held a Bed-In For Peace. Yoko, Ringo, and Jeff Bridges are pictured right there in the middle of a busy NYC street. The tour bus is making many stops around NYC
Carol and I attended Ringo's concert Thursday night at Radio City. It was another great evening of music. New to the tour this year is Graham Gouldman of 10CC who went over very well with I'm Not In Love and Things We Do For Love. Ringo is so energetic and yes he still does those jumping jacks at the end of the concert. Carol took this photo from the audience. We saw and said hi to hundreds of Fest attendees there (as usual). Tom Frangione (the third wheel in The Beatles Fab Fourum) was there as was Billy J. Kramer, Ken Dashow, Billy Amendola, Henry Diltz, and George Martin Bio Author Ken Womack. We "Get by with a little help friend our friends"!!
EGYPT STATION
PAUL McCARTNEY'S FIRST ALBUM OF ALL NEW MUSIC IN 5 YEARS!
CD & LIMITED EDITION VINYL
UPDATE:
When we first posted this news on Friday, It seemed, based on Billboard's estimated sales, that Paul would not be able to topple Eminem's new Album!
BUT IT DID!!!
Billboard's Top 200 #1 Charttopper
is Egypt Station. We think this new album is excellent, with lots of energy and great tunes as only Sir Paul can write and create. Congratulations Paul
on another #1 Album!!!
