En su primera visita a Uruguay en 2012, agotó las entradas en una hora en lo que fue un acontecimiento histórico que abrió la puerta a que se concretaran en el país otros espectáculos para gigantes de la música global.

En 2014 volvió a tocar en el Estadio Centenario y según informó Telemundo las negociaciones están encaminadas en Uruguay para que Paul McCartney vuelva a pisar territorio oriental, aunque todavía no hay confirmación oficial de su retorno.

La productora involucrada en la iniciativa es la de Atín Martínez, responsable del concierto de los Rolling Stones en 2016, del de Phil Collins –que será el próximo 17 de marzo en el Estadio Centenario–, del espectáculo Amaluna del Cirque du Soleil el año pasado y de la fiesta Creamfields.

Fuentes de CAFO, Comisión Administradora del Field Oficial (CAFO) del estadio, dijeron a El Observador que todavía no hay en su agenda ningún concierto de Paul McCartney hasta el momento agendado para ese escenario, que ya lo recibió dos veces.

McCartney está a punto de lanzar su nuevo disco.

Su último trabajo discográfico data del 2013 y el año pasado el ex Beatle brindó conciertos en Brasil y México. Puede que este año sea el turno nuevamente de Uruguay.

El año pasado 2017, McCartney anunció que estaba trabajando con el productor de Foo Fighters, Greg Kurstin, según publicó La Tercera de Chile en base a un especial de fin de año del ex Beatle en el que respondió preguntas de los fans.

El músico bromeó con el posible nombre de su nuevo disco: "Espero que sea un gran álbum... ¡Crucemos los dedos! (Fingers crossed) Así no se llama el disco, pero crucemos los dedos. Pero podría ser, podría ser el nombre del álbum", bromeó en ese momento.

En el 2012, cuando se anunció la llegada de Paul McCartney en Uruguay, la previa del recital se vivió como una experiencia única e irrepetible, tanto por la escasa frecuencia de este tipo de visitas como por la edad del ex Beatle.

Sin embargo, en el 2014 la ocasión dejó de ser única y lo impensable volvió a darse: McCartney dio su segundo recital en Uruguay, nuevamente con estadio lleno. Pero quien dice dos dice tres, parece haber pensado la productora local.

AM producciones, de Atín Martínez, está negociando la tercera llegada de Paul McCartney a Uruguay, según informó Telemundo 12 y confirmó Montevideo Portal con fuentes de la producción.

La fecha tentativa es setiembre, pero según informaron las fuentes la visita no es segura todavía. McCartney todavía no tiene fechas confirmadas de giras para este año, pero ya está negociando un tour de Sudamérica para setiembre, que de concretarse incluiría una vez más a Uruguay, además de Argentina, Brasil, Chile y Perú.

McCartney llegaría con 76 años cumplidos al Uruguay, pero completamente activo en sus presentaciones en vivo. En diciembre de 2017 se presentó en Australia, donde no tocaba desde 1993. Pocas semanas antes había estado en Ciudad de México, en el marco de su gira One on One, que duró desde abril del 2016 a diciembre del 2017.
