In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Traveling Wilburys -- George Harrison's supergroup with Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison -- Jeff Slate's Birds of Paradox will mark their fifth Fest appearance by joining forces with Roy's Boys, the late-Roy Orbison's sons, Roy Jr., Wesley and Alex Orbison. After past performances spotlighting Wings' Back To The Egg album and John Lennon's One To One concert, featuring members of Wings, the Plastic Ono Elephant's memory Band and Ringo's All-Starr Band, brought down the house, frontman Jeff Slate -- who attended his first Fest in 1979 -- knew he had to deliver something special. And since he'd teamed up with Roy Jr., Wesley and Alex Orbison on The Authorized Roy Orbison, the first estate sanctioned biography of the rock and roll legend, and with the release of The Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 looming, it was only natural to treat fans at this year's Fest with a supergroup featuring Roy Orbisons sons and musicians who have shared the stage and recorded with everyone from David Bowie to Roy Orbison himself. Birds of Paradox and Roy's Boys will present their show, Weekend Wilburys, on Saturday afternoon (around 2PM), and will be meeting fans afterwards, signing copies of their new book, CDs and other items. Jeff and Roy’s Boys will have a talk about their father’s close ties with The Beatles with a Q & A to follow. Alex will also be a part of our Drum Symposiums, headed by Modern Drummer’s Billy Amendola. We are thrilled and honored to welcome Roy’s Boys to their first FEST. They will be joining us all day Saturday and through late Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned for more information on their appearance in the upcoming weeks. 2/8 UPDATE: ROY JR has agreed to a separate solo show on the Apple Jam Stage on Sunday. He is quite an accomplished guitarist and will be including some Beatles tracks as well as some of his Dad's classics.

SIMON WEITZMAN
Simon has been the driving force behind some great visual Beatles book projects the past three years - Eight Arms To Hold You, All You Need Is Love, Mad Day Out and his latest projectThe Beatles in Stereoscopic 3D. His partner in these books, Paul Skellett, is the one who has taken care of the archival value of the images and made sure each one was cleaned up, repaired and given a new 21st century look without compromising the integrity of each image. Paul has been quite ill recently and is unable to attend this year. His illness has, unfortunately, delayed the release of the new Stereoscopic Project by a few months. They ask for your patience in this matter. On the exciting side, Simon is bringing the book sample with the 3D glasses so we can, for the first time, see what all the excitement is all about. Please drop by his booth to have a look, over the weekend. |

HEY BULLDOG
We started something new a few years ago for THE BATTLE OF THE BEATLES BANDS. The winners of the previous year's Battle get invited to perform an entire set on the Apple Jam Stage on Sunday. Last year's winners were Hey Bulldog, and they can be seen and heard at this year's FEST on Sunday afternoon. Located at Two Exchange Place in Jersey City, NJ
***Rooms are sold out for Saturday, but still available for Friday and Sunday. Information on our Overflow hotel is at the bottom of this section.
2017 was our first year at this wonderful 21st century hotel, and everyone loved it. The hotel is spectacular and so are the views of NYC, with the hotel shaped like a cruise ship that juts out into the Hudson River, directly across from One World Trade. The Riverside part of Jersey City is the fastest growing area in the entire state. There are jamming areas, too, for those late night after FEST sessions.
Easy access by PATH, with the stop immediately next door to the hotel.
Special Reduced Parking in the nearby hotel lot and another bigger lot across the street will be available for $15.00 per day. We reserved a big block of rooms next door at the brand new Hyatt House, but they also sold out.
Our 2nd Overflow hotel is the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Jersey City. Each room is a suite and the rates are $179.00 per night. It is only about a 10-to-12 minute walk and there is also a trolley (Light Rail) to and from the Hyatt Regency.
