Paul and his band have recorded a new video for the fans coming to see his gig at the Happel Stadium in Vienna this Thursday. Watch it below:
The video was shot during the soundcheck for Paul's recent concert in Warsaw. The visit - part of the all-new "Out There" tour - marked his first ever gig in Poland.
Before the show Paul tweeted, "Nie mogę się już doczekać tego wspaniałego wieczoru i dzisiejszego koncertu". This translates into English as, "I'm really looking forward to this wonderful evening and tonight's concert".
Warsaw's National Stadium also greeted Paul by writing 'Welcome Paul' in 80 metre high lights on the outside of the venue:

E quella di martedì sera, data unica all’Arena di Verona, è stata segnata da varie prime. Innanzitutto il teatro, al debutto assoluto, e forse, per impatto e acustica, il migliore scenario di sempre rispetto alle performance del passato. Poi il volume, mai così alto per McCartney, in certi momenti della serata ai limiti dell’hard rock. E infine la lunga teoria di canzoni dei Fab Four mai sentite dal vivo, almeno da noi. Perché non bisogna mai dimenticare che i capolavori assoluti della maturità dei quattro di Liverpool, da Sgt Pepper in giù, non si poterono mai ascoltare in concerto, dopo il ritiro dalle scene nel 1966. METAL, PERFINO - Ma veniamo al volume. La parola d’ordine è sembrata essere, per le tre ore di concerto, «meno fronzoli e più sostanza». Per esempio, rispetto a Bologna 2011, dove vedemmo Paul l’ultima volta. E dove il compianto Lucio Dalla ci ebbe a dire: «Sembra una sagra, è artificiale, a una dimensione, finto». Forse il Beatle deve averlo sentito: perché questo Paul ha ritrovato la sua anima più rockettara (tra l’altro a lui consona, ma spesso dai più dimenticata). Chissà se grazie, per esempio, alla rumorosa collaborazione con i Nirvana, nata al concerto per Sandy. Intanto lo vedi dall’uso abbondante di distorsioni e feedback in moltissime canzoni che sembrano quasi riarrangiate in chiave hard rock. Lo vedi dall’omaggio a Hendrix con un accenno di Foxy Lady o dalle esplosioni perfino metal di Live or Let Die o Day Tripper. E dalla voce, spesso in versione rugginosa stasera più che cinguettante. Lo vedi ancora, cappotto che sembra uscito da Carnaby Street e rughe non troppo dissimulate, mentre lesina più del solito mosse e mossette mielose da trademark. Apoteosi verso il finale Helter Skelter che, in quanto a hard rock forse si può considerare la prima canzone di sempre. GLI INEDITI - Ma, al di là del volume, questa è appunto serata di rarities, di quelle canzoni dei Beatles (stanchi morti, abbandonarono i live alla metà degli anni ’60) che non si sono mai potute ascoltare. Canzoni poi giocose, surreali, certo specchio del massimo livello creativo dell’epopea beatlesiana. Canzoni come I’ve Just Seen a Face, il similcountry di Help. O b-side ( se si possono definire tali) del leggendario capolavoro Sgt Pepper. Tipo il rock spiritoso di Lovely Rita o il surreale manifesto circense di Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite. E pure la canzoncina che in Magical veniva interpretata come fosse un cancan da tabarin anni ’30 Your Mother Should Know. LE COSTANTI - Ma poi, al netto dell’hard rock e degli inediti, ci sono le costanti McCartneyane. Il Paul romantico non è mancato. Per le sue donne. E per i suoi compagni d’avventura che se ne sono andati. My Valentine, è per l’ultima moglie, la ricca ereditiera Nancy Shevell, Maybe I’m Amazed è invece per la compagna di una vita, Linda che purtroppo non c’è più. Poi la mozione dei sentimenti si sposta sui Beatles scomparsi:per John arriva Here Today la canzone che Paul scrisse all’indomani della folle morte dell’amico, mentre per George c’è l’omaggio consueto di Something eseguita all’Ukulele (Macca l’aveva fatto anche a Bologna), una delle più belle canzoni scritte da Harrison, se non una delle più belle di tutto il repertorio beatlesiano. QUATTRO GENERAZIONI - E poi ci sono i brani che segnano la vita di ciascuno di noi, delle quasi quattro generazioni presenti all’arena: Yesterday, Paperback Writer, Back in The Ussr, Let It Be, la corale Hey Jude. Fino al finale consueto che è il finale della avventura beatlesiana, un trittico ormai immancabile ai concerti di Paul: Golden Slumbers-Carry That Weight- The End. Ovvero la conclusione di Abbey Road, l’ultimo album dei quattro in quanto a registrazioni. Così Paul chiude. E sfila, questo Paul rockettaro che invece di finire, sembra aver ricominciato di nuovo. Featured here is an early take of “Helter Skelter” recorded on July 18, 1968 which was a couple months before the version heard on the White Album. This recording appeared on The Beatles Anthology 3 CD set but it was edited down to 4 and a half minutes there while the complete take actually clocks in at around 12 minutes. Presented here is an alternate “Helter Skelter” take 2 where the Anthology account has been artificially extended out to the full 12 minutes. This clever editing even had me fooled for awhile and gives us a feel for experiencing a listen to the full version. One of these days if the “real thing” surfaces that will be even better.
