Cars formerly owned by Paul McCartney and John Lennon will be auctioned off in the US next month.
Beatles fans could get their hands on McCartney’s 1965 Mini Cooper S DeVille and Lennon’s 1979 Mercedes E 300 estate at the Worldwide Auctioneers Auburn Auction on September 1.
McCartney’s mini was one of four ordered for each Beatles member by their manager, Brian Epstein, in 1965.
In 2017, an Aston Martin originally owned by McCartney sold at a London auction for just over £1.3 million.
Ringo Starr’s 1966 Mini Cooper S Radford was snapped up for £102,300 by Geri Halliwell.
As This Is Money reports, George Harrison’s Mini is still owned by his wife. And the whereabouts of Lennon’s bespoke Cooper S’s remain unknown.
In other news, Harrison’s Cavern Club guitar is expected to sell for $500,000 when it goes on auction in September.
Harrison first played the Maton Mastersound MS-500 after he sent his Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar for repairs at Manchester’s Barratts.
The store owner lent Harrison the guitar as a temporary replacement – but Harrison liked it so much that he continued to use it. It was played at the band’s last ever Cavern show in 1963.
