No, it wasn't his father Paul McCartney. It was Yoko Ono.  Harold Montgomery, who saw the show, sent us an email (with pictures in the slideshow) Saturday after getting back into the States.

"Just got back from UK and I had the chance to see James McCartney in concert at a small venue, the Borderline, April 2. I enjoyed his show very much. Yoko Ono was there as well."

He said the club is located just off Soho Square on a one-way street just behind Paul McCartney's business office, MPL Communications Ltd.

"The doors opened at 7 and he went on around 9 p.m.," Montgomery says. "He had a nice reception from the audience that weren't more than 20 to 30-something in age. I did not see many people in their 40s and 50s.

"In fact, the eldest person there was probably Yoko Ono. She was right up front at James' keyboard."

He said McCartney told the crowd Yoko was in attendance and played a song at her request.

"She wiggled and swayed to every song with arms swinging. James performed almost all songs from his new two-CD set collection. The songs were performed great live by his supporting four-man band! He got good response from the audience for the songs "I Love You Dad", "I Only Want To Be Alone", "Old Man" and "Angel."

McCartney recently got some attention on the internet with some comments during an interview about forming a "Beatles 2.0" with some of the sons of the other Beatles. But in a followup post on Twitter that seems to have gone pretty much unnoticed, he explained he wasn't really serious.

The Borderline show came one day before he played the Cavern Club in Liverpool where his dad had played many times with the Beatles.
